Instructions:

  1. Choose a Problem:

    • Select one of the five problems provided:
      1. Planning a Birthday Party.
      2. Managing Homework and Extracurricular Activities.
      3. Saving Money for a New Gadget.
      4. Organizing a Study Group.
      5. Preparing for a School Talent Show.
    • Alternatively, come up with a relatable problem of your choice after teacher approval.
  2. Understand the Problem:

    • Think about the main goal of the problem.
    • Identify the smaller tasks or sub-problems required to achieve the goal.
  3. Break Down the Problem:

    • Divide the main problem into major sub-tasks.
    • Further break down each sub-task into smaller, detailed tasks if necessary.
    • Keep the tasks logical and manageable.
  4. Create the Structure Chart:

    • Draw a hierarchy chart that visually represents the breakdown of the problem.
    • Start with the main problem at the top.
    • Show sub-problems below the main problem.
    • Use lines or arrows to connect related tasks and show the flow of work.
  5. Label and Organize:

    • Ensure each task is clearly labeled.
    • Arrange the chart neatly to make it easy to understand.
  6. Review and Refine:

    • Double-check your chart to ensure all necessary tasks are included.
    • Ensure the chart is logical and complete.

Deliverables:

  • A neatly drawn structure chart on paper or using a digital tool (e.g., Lucid Charts, Word, PowerPoint, or Google Drawings).
  • A short paragraph (3-5 sentences) explaining your chart and how it solves the problem.
