Week 14

  • Avogadro's Law and Gas Calculations

    • Apply Avogadro's law and perform calculations involving molar volumes.
  • Kinetic Theory and Ideal Gas Behavior

    • State the basic assumptions of the kinetic theory for an ideal gas.
    • Explain the differences between real and ideal gases, including the conditions for ideal behavior and limitations at very high pressures and low temperatures, with qualitative treatment and graphical representations.
  • Gas Laws and Calculations

    • State Boyle's law and Charles' law, including graphical representations.
    • Perform calculations using:
      • Boyle's law,
      • Charles' law, and
      • the ideal gas equation (pV = nRT).
    • Include calculations of relative molar mass. (Excludes the Van der Waals equation.)
  • The Liquid State

    • Explain the processes of melting and vaporization, and describe the liquid state.
