Week 14
-
Avogadro's Law and Gas Calculations
- Apply Avogadro's law and perform calculations involving molar volumes.
-
Kinetic Theory and Ideal Gas Behavior
- State the basic assumptions of the kinetic theory for an ideal gas.
- Explain the differences between real and ideal gases, including the conditions for ideal behavior and limitations at very high pressures and low temperatures, with qualitative treatment and graphical representations.
-
Gas Laws and Calculations
- State Boyle's law and Charles' law, including graphical representations.
- Perform calculations using:
- Boyle's law,
- Charles' law, and
- the ideal gas equation (pV = nRT).
- Include calculations of relative molar mass. (Excludes the Van der Waals equation.)
-
The Liquid State
- Explain the processes of melting and vaporization, and describe the liquid state.
